The reserva Rioja Olartia, 100% tempranillo, comes from the vineyards that surround our winery in Rodezno (La Rioja Alta).
These vines are 40 years old on average, trellis-grown and picked by hand.
We ferment them with their native yeasts, with half of the grapes destemmed and the other half entire. They are fermented in small quantities and do not need to be chilled, with daily punching down for about 28 days.
This reserva rests in the barrel for 18 months: 50% in French oak and the other 50% in American oak from Pennsylvania.
Next, we put the whole batch into a vat, with maturing continuing in the bottle for another 20 months.
This is an unclarified wine, which is only filtered, using very coarse cellulose meshes, just before it is bottled. There may appear fine lees in the bottom of the bottle, which are evidence of its natural evolution.
Its harmonious evolution in the bottle will become apparent to us as the years go by. This underlines a notable aromatic potential that accompanies its body and individual structure. Intense, dark cherry red. Balanced grandeur.
Enjoy it in good company and do not subject it to sharp changes in temperature.
Serving temperature 17°C
